The man behind Almost Famous is premiering his newest production on Showtime June 26. Roadies, entirely executed by Cameron Crowe, is a fictional ten-episode season that follows the life of a road crew. Luke Wilson plays the role of a tour manager, Carla Gugino the production manager, and Imogen Poots as an electrical tech in this comedic music series.

The soundtrack is all hand-picked by Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis who serves as producer and music supervisor. According to The Hollywood Reporter, music from The Hand and the Heart is featured in the pilot episode, and the entire season will be suited with bands and musicians, including The Eagles’ Joe Walsh.

The series brings the true stories of many legendary roadies from the music industry to life. The pilot episode shows a pianist react negatively to fingerprints on his piano, which is based off a story about Freddie Mercury, and Peter Cambor’s guitar tech is based on Elvis Costello.

Crowe told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, “I love music and stories where music is a character.” He continued, “Over time I was struck by the fact that Almost Famous spoke loudly to people. It was a very personal story for me and I didn’t expect it to touch people that way. I wanted to revisit the world of writing about music but in a different and contemporary way … [telling] authentic stories about people behind the curtain presenting music to people every day.”
