Watch UM’s Joel Cummins Have A Meltdown On Marc Brownstein’s Answering Machine

While the landline answering machine may be antiquated, the classic movie Swingers still holds up as a comical look at being single again after the demise of a long relationship. Leave it to Umphrey’s McGee to take the movie to the next level, with keyboardist Joel Cummins coming on a bit too strong after supposedly meeting The Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein.

In the clip, which aired between quarters at last weekend’s UMBowl VI, Cummins professes that he just got out of a six-year-long side project and he’s looking for someone new to jam with. Of course, the machine beeps right as he’s leaving his number, ultimately triggering the “Answering Machine Meltdown” referenced in the clip’s title.
