What happens in Vegas…

Widespread Panic kicked off a two-night run at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV last night, playing a rocking show in Sin City. The band had some fun with some collaborators towards the end of the second set and into the encore, when Karl Denson and Carrot Top joined the band onstage.

The band broke into the classic “Angels On High,” bringing out perennial brass bad-ass Karl Denson into the fold. Denson stuck around for a set-closing Talking Heads cover, “Life During Wartime,” where the band brought out Carrot Top to join in on percussion. Denson stayed through the encore, and Carrot Top joined once again, bringing the show to a close with “Chainsaw City.”

Both musicians have sat in with the band before, and this was actually Carrot Top’s 20th time joining WSP since 1997. The last five collabs have all been in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Denson is also a WSP-Vegas regular, having joined the band on their last four outings to Sin City. Check out this video of Carrot Top joining in on “Life During Wartime” from 2013:
