We all want the Fresh Prince should be spitting rhymes behind a microphone as well as acting in front of a camera, and for the first time in quite a few years, that wish may come true. Earlier this week in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Will Smith said, “I spent a week or so with ‘Ye and we went into the studio a couple of times and he’s trying to get my gassed up,” but also adding that he doesn’t “want to say, ‘Yeah I’m gonna do it!’ and then get in there and suck. I’m going to stay cautiously optimistic.” Just so we don’t get our hopes up.

During a recent red carpet interview with Hollyscoop News for his new movie Focus, Will Smith reveals how much work he has already completed with Kayne so far. “I’ve recorded a lot. I don’t have anything I like yet, but I’ve probably recorded around seven or eight [songs]. It’s not for certain, it’s just explorative.”

In recent weeks, Will Smith has made appearances on Ellen Degeneres, Jimmy Fallon, and David Letterman, and rapped for all television hosts. It is clear that the Fresh Prince is seriously considering coming back to the mic once more. Let’s hope that the Kanye and Will Smith collaboration drops in time to become a song of the summer contender, that track is bound to break a record or two.
