Have you heard of the Polyrhythmics from Seattle, WA? We sure have! This eight piece outfit plays a unique brand of all-instrumental psychedelic afro-funk that has been filling dance floors across the pacific northwest since 2010 and building a hardcore fanbase within live music communities all down the west coast and mountain regions.

As they’ve done many times before, Polyrhythmics showed up in Bend, OR to deliver a three hour Phish after party immediately following Tuesday night’s Phish tour opener. For the band’s fortunate phriends and phamily able to get into this sold out gig at the Volcanic Theater Pub, the experience was electric. Two full sets of burning funk music that kept the motion and the moister levels high while droves of late-comers eagerly listened from outside on the patio waiting for the opportunity to get in and occupy the dance floor at this late-night dance party.

We first caught the Polyrhythmics when they headlined last year’s M.O.M’s Ball during Mardi Gras in New Orleans where they unleashed their funky stylings onto an ideally loose crowd of costumed misfits. We’re looking forward to an upcoming announcement of the band’s east-coast tour which we know is already slated to come through popular east coast live music venues including Nectar’s in Burlington, VT on 9/25 and The Brooklyn Bowl with our friends Turkuaz on 9/29.

In addition to their ongoing tour stops at festivals and venue gigs this summer, west coast funk fans can also plan to catch the Polyrhythmics for their two-night Halloween throw down at Nectar Lounge in Seattle, Wa on October 30 and 31st. The Polyrhythmics are sharing the bill with their good friends Monophonics from San Francisco for what is sure to be a solid two nights of funk, soul and dance grooves this Halloween weekend in the Emerald City.
