It’s always a treat when new footage of the Grateful Dead finds its way onto YouTube. If one new upload is a treat, then four new shows is an absolute delight!

That’s what happened over the last week, as a series of Grateful Dead performances from February 1986 were uploaded by YouTube user Kevin Tobin. Of the five shows performed between February 8th through 14th at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, CA, four of them are now available to watch in full. These were the first shows of 1986 for the Dead, and the band went big with special guest musicians, like Jose Lorenzo, Brian Stoltz, Daryl Johnson, William Green and three members of the Neville family – Charles, Art and Cyril, during some of the earlier shows of the run.

The Dead really get into groove over five nights in the Bay Area, powered by guest musicians, big jams and more fun. The run concludes with an emotional Valentine’s Day performance, celebrating the love-based community that the Dead fostered for so many years.
