Last night LCD Soundsystem made their highly-anticipated appearance as the musical guests on Saturday Night Live after much fanfare surrounding the announcement of the performance. The SNL spot came on the heels of Friday’s official release of the bands first two new studio tracks since 2010, which were premiered live during their 5-night residency to open new venue Brooklyn Steel last month.

The band used the two customary SNL performer slots to perform both of their newly released tracks, including fast-paced pop-rock jam “Call The Police” and moody, plodding vamp “American Dream.” You can watch both SNL performances below, via the show’s YouTube page:

According to a note posted to the band’s Facebook page last week by frontman James Murphy, the band’s promised and even impatiently-awaired new album is nearing completion, and will be released as soon as the official vinyls are prepared (“finish last mix > get to bob to master > get masters to pressing plant”). Continued Murphy, “I insist that there is vinyl on the day it’s released (because… well… because i’m an old person).” This will be the band’s first release of new music since 2010.
