Philadelphia’s The Ardmore Music Hall has put together its own funky gathering of all-stars for next Friday, September 22nd. The bill, dubbed A Funky Friday in Ardmore, will be led by bassist George Porter Jr. (The Meters) and guitarist Eric Krasno (Soulive/Lettuce), two musicians who are no strangers to one another and who’ve regularly shared the stage. The duo will be joined by Kraz’s Soulive bandmate and drummer Alan Evans along with Philly’s own Tom Hamilton (American Babies / Joe Russo’s Almost Dead) and Ween keyboardist Glenn McClelland rounding out the band’s core musicians, making this a can’t-miss lineup.

However, the bill doesn’t stop there, as the group will be joined by vocalist Kim Dawson (The Pimps of Joytime) and a horn section consisting of Mike “Maz” Maher and Chris Bullock of Grammy Award winning act Snarky Puppy. During the performance, some other very special guests have plans to stop by, though they have not been announced as of yet. For A Funky Friday in Ardmore, folks can expect to hear psychedelic, funky jams and, more than likely, a good dose of the Grateful Dead thrown in for good measure. Not exactly a bad way to spend a Friday night in the City of Brotherly Love.
