On Saturday, December 30th, a group of celebrated musician will come together at The Cutting Room for “A Family Affair” in tribute to the music of Sly & The Family Stone. The Chase Brothers–Adam Chase and Matthew Chase–will join forces with The Cressman Family–Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band), Jeff Cressman (Santana, Sheila E., Stevie Wonder), and Sandy Cressman (Homenagem Brasileira, Orquesta Candela)–for a night of celebration. The Chase and Cressman Families have tapped a stellar cast to support, including Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy), Maurice “Mobetta” Brown (Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Roots), Felix Pastorius (The Mu’tet), and Jamar Woods (The Fritz) for the gig, which will inevitably invite a full night of dancing and nostalgia.
Sly and the Family Stone was an American band from San Francisco. Active from 1966 to 1983, the band was pivotal in the development of funk, soul, rock, and psychedelic music. The band’s catalog includes three career-defining gold Billboard #1 Pop/ #1 R&B smashes, “Everyday People,” “Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Again)” and “Family Affair,” and their signature Top 40 hits that began with “Dance To the Music” and went on to include “Stand!,” “Hot Fun In the Summertime,” “Runnin’ Away,” “If You Want Me To Stay,” “Time For Livin’,” and more. With members of Trey Anastasio Band, Santana, Snarky Puppy, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and more on board to play the parts, we’re certain it’ll be a party you’ll want to get down to. Tickets are available here.
