It’s business time! It looks like New Zealand musical comedy duo Flight Of The Conchords has a new special in the works for 2018. New Zealand natives Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement–better known as Flight Of The Conchords–developed a worldwide cult following after their BBC radio series was turned into a TV show by HBO in 2007, showcasing their unassuming yet hilarious blend of music and comedy. The series (also called Flight of the Conchords) ran for two seasons and was nominated for several Emmys, in both songwriting and overall comedic categories. After a relatively quiet few years, the group returned in 2016, announcing an extensive summer tour that marked their first U.S. shows since 2013.
Flight Of The Conchords Land Big Laughs At Forest Hills Stadium Debut [Review]
In a recent one-on-one interview with Entertainment Tonight‘s Leanne Aquilera, Clement somewhat cryptically revealed som Conchords plans in motion for this new year. “We’d do something,” he replied when asked if a Flight of the Conchords reboot was in the works. “We’re going to film a little something this year…We’re going to shoot an hour thing,”
In the interview, Jemaine was coy about whether HBO was involved in the project, and joked that he wouldn’t discuss what musical numbers he was working on. “Something,” Clement told ET, shutting down questions about specifics. “That’s it.”
Clement and McKenzie’s first Flight of the Conchords U.K. tour in seven years kicks off in March, however, featuring all the classics from their show, as well as new material. Currently, Clement is starring in Legion on FX, which returns for its second season on March 15th. We couldn’t be more excited for some (potentially) new Flight of the Conchords in 2018!
