Dead & Company wrapped up their two-night stand at Mountain View, CA’s Shoreline Amphitheatre on Tuesday night. Despite the show’s proximity to Independence Day, the band did not deliver a rendition of “U.S. Blues” during the hometown performance, though “New Minglewood Blues”  and “Viola Lee Blues” did make the cut.

The show opened with a fun “Iko Iko” before moving on to “Alabama Getaway”, ‘New Minglewood Blues” and “Brown-Eyed Women”. Next came “Cassidy,” and “Ship of Fools” before the band closed out the segue-free first set with “Let It Grow” from their “Weather Report Suite”.

Dead & Company made up for their lack of first set transitions with a second set in which the music never stopped. Things got started with a “China Cat Sunflower” the flowed right into “Althea” and “Viola Lee Blues” on its way to the expected “I Know You Rider”. Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart’s obligatory “Drums” segment followed before the rest of the band returned to guide the ship through “Space” and “The Other One v2”. Bob Weir then led the band through the latter-day Garcia/Hunter composition “The Days Between”, which melted into “Casey Jones” to end the set. Finally, Dead & Company returned for a encore take on “Ripple”.

Dead & Company will return the stage on Friday night when they headline the Mattress Firm Ampitheatre in Chula Vista, CA, just outside of San Diego. However, as previously reported, the band is also hosting a pop-up in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, and they’re to wrap up their California run on Saturday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
