Early this morning, the Bourbon and Beyond Festival announced that the second day of the festival will be canceled. As a result from yesterday’s storms, the city of Louisville, Kentucky has declared Champions Park too flooded to proceed. While sets by David Byrne, Lenny Kravitz, John Mayer and more managed to go off with some small delay yesterday, the waterfront facility deteriorated over the course of the day and has, at this point, become been deemed unsafe by the city, which owns and operates the venue.
Disappointed fans will lose their chances to see the likes of Sting, Robert Plant, Gov’t Mule, Blackberry Smoke and many more, but in the end, safety must come first. While music fans are disappointed at the loss of such a stellar lineup of shows, spare a thought for the many artists, workers, vendors, promoters and the like who, though they knew the risks, still worked tirelessly to put on a truly impressive event.
The festival will be offering all single day Sunday ticketholders a full refund, while offering a partial refund for weekend and camping passes. Head to the event website for more information.
Last night, Franklin, Tennessee’s Pilgrimage Music Festival was evacuated due to weather. Fans were told to seek shelter outside of the festival grounds at 5:52 pm, and the festival canceled the programming at quarter to 8 pm. Fans were outraged by the decision, which left them waiting in mud-stuck cars for hours without any chance of seeing Jack White, Lionel Richie, Elle King, Hozier, and the many others that were scheduled to perform on Saturday.
This morning, Pilgrimage Music Festival organizers posted that Sunday’s programming would also be canceled, “due to additional inclement weather on its way to Franklin”. No announcement has been made about what this means for ticket-buyers, who will now miss out on headlining sets from Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Keb’ ‘Mo Band, Brandi Carlile, and so many more. Head to the event’s website for more information.
