On Tuesday, June 25th, Phish returned to Bangor, ME’s Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion for their first performance of a two-night stand. The beautiful waterfront venue, first visited by the Vermont quartet back in 2013, found the band in fine form as they continued to gain momentum into the third week of their tour.

Following an exploratory first set, Phish returned to the stage to open up their second set with “Down With Disease” that stretched out past the 19-minute mark. Backed by a hard-hitting groove from Jon Fishman, the band soared off into a silky-smooth sonic landscape, with Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell bouncing off of each other’s exploratory licks. Trey let it all hang out towards the end of the jam, firing off a series of explosive guitar solos. Phish left “Disease” unfinished and smoothly segued into “Play By Play”, from the band’s beloved Kasvot Växt album from last year’s Halloween run. Moving out of “Play By Play”, the band offered up the second 19-minute jam of the evening with “Simple”. With Mike Gordon laying down the groundwork, the band moved out of the song’s main theme into deep Type II territory, allowing Trey to once again dazzle the crowd with a series of ever-evolving solos.
