The announcement shared by Rateliff in an op-ed published by Denver Westword on Tuesday starts by stating, “Cannabis has improved our quality of life and helped us be our best selves. It has helped us soldier through the brutal ups and downs that life has to offer us all.”
The strain, named “Nightstache Collection,” will initially be sold at eight different LivWell retailers throughout Colorado until it’s released to additional retail locations throughout the western state at a future date. The strain will come in a Cherry AK Distillate Cartridge and will provide users with locally sourced flower extract grown in Boone, CO by AJ’s Craft Cannabis.
Rateliff now joins the likes of Jimmy Buffet, Jenny Lewis, and Dead & Company’s Mickey Hart in notable rockers who have joined the growing cannabis boom in 2019.
Rateliff’s op-ed continues in stating that his time spent growing up in the midwest and seeing “a lot of addiction issues to harmful substances including alcohol, methamphetamine and later opioids” acted as one of the main inspirations for turning to the natural plant for an alternative to harmful narcotics.
“We both consume for a variety of reasons: boosting our creativity and relaxation, helping with sleep, and easing the aches and pains that are synonymous with life on the road,” the announcement continues. “Our hope is that these cannabis products will provide enjoyment for many, as well as relief to those patients who need it most.”
