Legendary New Orleans bassist and The Meters co-founder George Porter Jr. will lead an all-star tribute to one of his fellow Crescent City music icons, the late Dr. John. The event will take place at New Orleans’ Tipitina’s on November 27th.

Along with Porter as the musical director, the band for the special Sonny Schneidau-produced event will feature Herlin Riley, Alfred “Uganda” Roberts, John “Papa” Gros, John Fohl, Tony Dagradi, Brad Walker, Tracy Griffin, Theresa Andersson, & Jolynda “Kiki” Chapman.
The Dr. John tribute will also feature performances by Ivan Neville, Jon Cleary, Deacon John, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Anders Osborne, David Torkanowsky, James Andrews, Johnny Sansone, Stanton Moore, Tom McDermott, and Josh Paxton.
A portion of the proceeds from the Dr. John tribute at Tipitina’s will benefit the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic.
