The one-night show is branded as “Mick Fleetwood & Friends Celebrate The Music of Peter Green And The Early Years of Fleetwood Mac” and will take place at The London Palladium on February 25th. The all-star event will treat attendees to performances throughout the night from Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Bill Wyman (The Rolling Stones), John Mayall (John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers), Zak Starkey (Son of Ringo Starr), and guitarist Jonny Lang.
Fleetwood Mac singer/pianist Christine McVie is also reported to be part of the performance, along with a house band comprised of Fleetwood alongside Andy Fairweather Low, Dave Bronze, and Ricky Peterson. Veteran recording producer and engineer Glyn Johns will also be involved as the show’s executive sound producer.
Peter Green, who is often forgotten by younger rock fans, helped shape Fleetwood Mac’s bluesier sound in the 1960s and early ’70s prior to Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joining the group in 1975. Green’s contributions to the band’s recorded material in their early years include Fleetwood Mac (1968), Then Play On (1969), and The Original Fleetwood Mac (1971). His pioneering style of blues-rock playing would go on to inspire a generation of young guitarists who would make their own impact on the arena rock era which dominated the 1970s.
“The concert is a celebration of those early blues days where we all began, and it’s important to recognize the profound impact Peter and the early Fleetwood Mac had on the world of music,” Fleetwood mentioned in a statement to go with the announcement. “Peter was my greatest mentor and it gives me such joy to pay tribute to his incredible talent. I am honored to be sharing the stage with some of the many artists Peter has inspired over the years and who share my great respect for this remarkable musician.”
