Renowned Deadhead photographer Jay Blakesberg has announced that his Between The Dark and Light Grateful Dead slideshow/storytelling presentation will make its way to four East Coast cities this February.

Between The Dark and Light is a dynamic slideshow and storytelling event hosted by Jay Blakesberg in celebration of his new book, Jerry Garcia: Secret Space of Dreams. He will begin the mini-tour at Elation in Norfolk, VA on February 23rd before heading to The Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC (2/25); Charleston Pour House in Charleston, SC (2/26); and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden in Miami, FL (2/28).

Throughout the presentation, he will share stories and images from his illustrious 40+ year career photographing the Grateful Dead. The 70-minute affair will provide the audience with an “all-access” pass to his many years photographing the band as a fan, journalist, and crew member.

Blakesberg will first take fans through his early teenage years including his introduction to photography in 1978 when he shot the Grateful Dead performing at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He will then discuss his psychedelic journey after high school and how that led to a career visually chronicling the biggest names in rock music.

Additionally, he will tell the story of serving as the official photographer for the Dead’s 50th anniversary “Fare Thee Well” concerts in 2015.

In a statement to Live For Live Music, Blakesberg explained the impetus behind the tour:

I just got back from Playing in the Sand in Mexico and had so much fun presenting there, and got such great feedback from the fans that I am super excited to bring this out on the road. With this ever-evolving slideshow, I have also added several new stories including telling how John Mayer ended up playing [Jerry] Garcia’s Wolf Guitar last June at Citifield.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Eventbrite.com.
