Spotify has announced three new features for the streaming platform which will aid artists and fans during the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic that has canceled or postponed virtually all music events across the world for the foreseeable future.

In a blog post on the company’s website published on Wednesday, Spotify announced the COVID-19 Music Relief project, a new “artists” feature, and programs from creator tools.

“Today we launched the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief project, which recommends verified organizations that offer financial relief to those in the music community most in need around the world,” the company said. “To begin, we’re partnering with MusiCaresPRS Foundation, and Help Musicians, and are looking forward to adding more partners worldwide.” Spotify will match all donations, dollar-for-dollar up to $10 million, made through the COVID-19 Music Relief page.

The company is also developing a new feature that will allow “artists to fundraise directly from fans” by driving “listeners to a fundraising destination of their choice” from their artist profile page, which can include their own fundraiser.

Furthermore, programs from Spotify Creator Tools are helping as well. SoundBetter will omit its revenue share for the next 30 days, while SoundTrap will “offer extended free trials for educators, and Anchor will waive fees on its Listener Support feature.”
