Joe Exotic, the central figure in Netflix docuseries/cultural phenomenon Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness, will use Jerry Garcia‘s famous “Tiger” guitar for a live-streamed concert this Friday at Oklahoma’s Grady County Jail, where he is currently serving a 22-year sentence.

In a statement issued through his attorney, Exotic, legal name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, expressed his profound excitement about using the famous instrument:

I’m so excited to bring you this special Joe Exotic TV broadcast live from the Tiger King Cage! Ever since I’ve been unfairly incarcerated for ‘allegedly’ trying to hire an assassin to ‘allegedly’ murder that [expletive] Carole Baskin with a crossbow, I feel the people have been missing my music.

Plus, I get to play this badass guitar with a tiger on it. It used to belong to an ice cream-makin’ old hippie named Jerry Garcia, but then the owner of the Colts bought it for a million bucks and set this whole thing up. I think that hippie would be proud for me to bless his instrument with my music. Plus, it ain’t like he’s usin’ it.

When reached for comment, the Garcia Family Trust confirmed that they were aware of Exotic’s plans to use Tiger for his prison livestream. “Look, it’s not ideal,” explained a representative from the Trust who asked to remain nameless. “We’re 90% sure he thinks Jerry is the ‘Jerry’ of Ben & Jerry’s. But Tiger King is huge right now, and this idiot actually has a lot more pull than you’d think. We’re working on convincing Joe that he actually wrote ‘China Cat Sunflower’ so we can maybe sneak a little Grateful Dead into the show.”

Before being incarcerated for soliciting a murder-for-hire and the unlawful killing of five tigers, Exotic was a prolific recording artist. His catalog of country gems includes his signature track, “I Saw A Tiger“, and “Here Kitty Kitty“, which tells the torrid tale of Carole Baskin allegedly murdering her husband and feeding his body to the lions. Exotic also mounted unsuccessful campaigns for President of the United States and Governor of Oklahoma.
