Back with another quarantine-inspired music video, Galactic has teamed up with an all-star cast of collaborators for a take on “Wash Your Hands”, the 1930s calypso classic from Roaring Lion.
The Steve Kelly-produced video sees Galactic joined by Chali 2na, Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Ivan Neville, Eric Gordon, and Mike Dillion, as well as David Shaw, Zack Feinberg, Andrew Campanelli, Rob Ingraham, and Michael Giradot from The Revivalists. Furthermore, some of New Orleans’ finest talent, Trombone Shorty, Anders Osborne, Boyfriend, Erica Falls, Baruch Rabasa, Sue Zemanick, Princess Shaw, Frenchy, Gogo Borgerding, Papa Mali, Julian Goslin, Derrick Freeman, and James Singleton appear throughout the song, filmed from each person’s self-quarantine location.

Jelly counts the band into the song, immediately transporting the listener to an island paradise. She sings the first verse before the large cast of guests harmonizes on the song’s refrain, “Wash your hands and clean your fingernails.” Towards the end of the two-and-a-half-minute track, Chali 2na drops into a verse replete with some coronavirus pandemic best practices. “Wanna make this virus cease?/ You’ve got to do your part/ And move apart, it will soon depart if you do your job,” he rhymes. “Gotta wash with soap and hot water to stop the spread/ And put a mask on top ya head at least that’s what the doctor said,” 2na continued before the rest of the collaborators joined back in for a final chorus.
