On Saturday, May 30th, over 70 artists and thousands of fans came together for Quarantine Comes Alive, a virtual music festival which raised over $170,000 for an array of charities via the comprehensive PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The 15-hour live-stream marathon featured virtual performances and never-before-seen footage by an array of artists from around the world including The California Honeydrops, who debuted a live video of “I Wanna Go Home” from their January 17th performance at Denver’s Mission Ballroom. The California Honeydrops are preparing to release their latest EP, Just One More, And Then Some, this Friday, June 26th. The band will celebrate the release with a crowd-less live stream from Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA.
As drummer Ben Malament explains about the new EP, “These songs are an open invitation for anyone listening to follow that sound of a party you might hear from the street. You find the source, the voices, the horns, the piano and drums, they start hitting you from the gate leading to the little house tucked away in the back. It’s a Honeydrops house party, the windows are foggy, the neighbors are cool, you’ll pick up an instrument or a microphone, a piece of floor to tear up, and we appreciate you just digging in and being a part of it. That was fun, just one more, and then some.”
Presented by Live For Live Music in partnership with PLUS1 and Nugs.TV, Quarantine Comes Alive was conceived as a way to celebrate and support musicians, provide fans with unique musical experiences from the comfort of their couches, and raise money for comprehensive COVID-19 relief during this time of uncertainty. All funds raised from the donation-based event will be split evenly between the artists on the bill and the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund, which works directly with leading non-profit organizations like Sweet Relief, MusiCares, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, World Central Kitchen, Partners In Health, Trans Lifeline, and Backline to provide aid where it’s needed most.
