On Saturday, May 30th, over 70 artists and thousands of fans came together for Quarantine Comes Alive, a virtual music festival that raised over $150,000 for a slew of charities and participating musicians—who remain out of work as the pandemic continues to preclude regular touring—via the comprehensive PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The 15-hour live-stream marathon featured virtual performances and never-before-seen videos by an array of artists including The Revivalists frontman David Shaw, who chatted with event host Ari Fink of SiriusXM and delivered a solo acoustic set for the thousands of viewers tuning in from around the world.
Shaw began his performance by offering up an optimistic message for viewers. “I truly believe we’re gonna come out better on the other side. The love I’ve seen from the musical community lately makes me truly, truly, truly understand how much love is in the world, how much love is in this scene, and how much love I have for y’all and how much love you have for me. … It’s a crazy time but we’re all coming together for a greater good.”
With that, Shaw got his solo acoustic set started with an unreleased original, “So Strange”. The haunting ballad gave way to a rendition of The Revivalists’ “Soulfight”. Next, he pulled out the performance’s lone cover, “Mississippi Moon”, the Peter Rowan tune recorded by Jerry Garcia on his acclaimed 1974 album, Compliments, also known as Garcia. Finally, he “took it out on a high note” with a blood-pumping run through the Revs’ “Some People Say”.

Presented by Live For Live Music in partnership with PLUS1 and Nugs.TV, Quarantine Comes Alive was conceived as a way to celebrate and support musicians, provide fans with unique musical experiences from the comfort of their couches, and raise money for comprehensive COVID-19 relief during this time of uncertainty. All funds raised from the donation-based event will be split evenly between the artists on the bill and the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund, which works directly with leading non-profit organizations like Sweet Relief, MusiCares, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, World Central Kitchen, Partners In Health, Trans Lifeline, and Backline to provide aid where it’s needed most.
