When people think of New York City, two things come to mind: Beastie Boys and Ghostbusters and absolutely nothing else. Now, The Big Apple’s only two claims to fame are together at last with a new mashup pairing “Intergalactic” with Ray Parker Jr.‘s Ghostbusters theme.
Posted by YouTuber William Maranci earlier this month, “Beastie Boys – Intergalactic But It’s Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.” goes so far as to combine the classic music video directed by Adam Yauch (under the pseudonym Nathanial Hörnblowér) with footage from the classic 1984 Halloween comedy.

As far as mashups go, this one gets pretty close to perfect as Parker’s iconic keyboard tones fit right in with the wacky musicianship of the rap-rock trio. Even the giant cardboard robot from the “Intergalactic” video is right at home as he goes up against the feared Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
In addition to the Ghostbusters/Beastie Boys mashup, Maranci’s page hosts dozens—if not hundreds—of other brilliant mashups and boasts 246,000 subscribers. Other choice mashups include “Rage Against the Machine – Bulls on Parade But It’s Stayin’ Alive by Bee Gees” or last year’s Halloween mashup of Nine Inch Nail‘s “Closer” with—you guessed it—the Ghostbusters theme.
