The Allman Betts Band will take a scheduled hiatus for much of 2022, the band announced on Tuesday. The group consisting of Allman Brothers Band kin will take a break following its remaining Allman Family Revival make-up shows.
“After 3 years of album making, non-stop touring, song writing, globe-trotting, COVID dodging, etc … we are putting The Allman Betts Band on our first hiatus,” Devon Allman and Duane Betts wrote in a note on the band’s social media. “We are aiming for a return to the stage at the end of 2022 for the 6th annual Allman Family Revival concerts, held between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We look forward to the extra time with family and to embark on some new endeavors.”
The band still has a number of Allman Family Revival shows to make up that were postponed due to COVID. The extended Allman Family Revival lineup will make up its New Year’s Eve show in Macon, GA on February 11th ahead of concerts in Pheonix, AZ (2/17); San Francisco, CA (2/20); Los Angeles, CA (2/22); and Las Vegas, NV (2/24). The Allman Betts Band then has a slot at Gasparilla Music Festival in Tampa, FL February 25th–27th before hanging it up until the next Allman Family Revival tour in late 2022.
Formed in 2018, The Allman Betts Band features Gregg Allman‘s son Devon and Dickey Betts‘ son Duane at the helm. They are joined by Berry Oakley Jr. on bass in addition to keyboardist John Ginty, drummer John Lum, percussionist R. Scott Bryan, and guitarist Johnny Stachela. The group’s debut studio effort, Down To The River, came out in 2019 followed by Bless Your Heart in 2020.
The Allman Betts Band had planned the Trippin’ Into Spring 2022 tour to kick off in March. Many of those dates will instead be fulfilled by the Devon Allman Project. For tickets and a full list of tour dates click here. Scroll down to see the full Allman Betts Band statement on its hiatus.
