The New Mastersounds and Color Red have launched a collection of free NFTs that come with access to a special livestream performance and Q&A session on Thursday, June 23rd, plus early access to “Watchu Want”, a new single from the band’s upcoming studio album, The Deplar Effect.

Launched in partnership with Lively and Blockparty, The New Mastersounds’ Watchu Want NFTs are available until 8 p.m. ET on June 23rd. Fans who download an NFT are invited to experience the premiere of the group’s live performance in Menorca, which will also include a live Q&A with the band. The concert will be the only live performance the band will play this year. Click here for detailed instructions on how to set up a crypto wallet, claim your free NFT, and access the stream via Lively.

NFT holders will also have early exclusive access to “Watchu Want”, the lead single from The New Mastersounds’ 17th album, The Deplar Effect (no wallet is needed to access the single). The song appears first on the album and follows the band’s tradition of opening each record with a “Meters-inspired” instrumental in homage to the band’s biggest influence.

Asked why the band is entering into the web3 world with Lively/Blockparty at this time, guitarist and bandleader Eddie Roberts had this to say:

We’ve been wanting to engage with the web3 world for a while now but were waiting for the right time. With the new album coming out this fall we thought this would be the perfect way to give our fans that haven’t yet engaged in this technology an easy on ramp and for those that have, give them The New Mastersounds web3 content they have been clamoring for. We thought it was important to partner with a team that not only understands the technology of web3 and nfts but has strong roots in the music industry and the communities our fans spend time in. The team at Lively has decades of experience in helping foster and grow those communities and with Blockparty bringing their industry know how and suite of web3 tools to the table we can sleep easy knowing both the band and our fans are in good hands as we take this plunge together.

The Watchu Want NFT Offering will be released on the Polygon Blockchain, known for its climate-friendly commitments and sustainable processes.

The Deplar Effect was recorded at Floki Studios, located near Eleven Experience’s Deplar Farm on Troll Peninsula, Iceland. Color Red, a music platform and record label founded by Eddie Roberts, has partnered with Eleven Music to produce sessions with some of today’s most notable musicians.

The album is scheduled for release on October 14th, 2022. Stay tuned for more announcements regarding future NFT releases, benefits, and projects for The New Mastersounds.
