Keller Williams will revive his Shut The Folk Up & Listen concert series with help from Steve Poltz, the barefooted bard announced on Wednesday. The run of six concerts will take the pair of singer-songwriters through the Northeast in December and March.

Williams first introduced the Shut The Folk Up & Listen concerts back in 2016 with a run of shows alongside Leo Kottke. The series then returned in 2018 with Martin Sexton and has been on the shelf ever since. As Keller explained of the format when he first announced it in 2016,

I take great pride in the evolution of my career. Between all the electronic toys and all the eclectic people that allow me into their worlds, this set goes back to the beginning. Guitar and microphone. Loopless. I focus on material that can be enjoyed while sitting and listening. Not necessarily slow songs but instrumentals and lyrics that are often overlooked when performed in venues with no seats. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy those venues and look forward to hopefully playing them for the rest of my life. This set focuses on the listening rather than the dancing and the socializing. You’ll hear songs you recognize and a few you won’t. I may even hit you up for a request. All in all, its a loose night in comfortable chairs with acoustic music. So shut the folk up and listen. Please. Kw

The run of shows begins on December 1st at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, MA, followed the next night by a show at a venue that is yet to be revealed. The duo will then close out the December run on the 3rd at the Center For The Arts in Natick, MA. After a couple months away, Williams and Poltz will reconvene in March for a concert at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA on the 3rd and then round out the series with shows at City Winery venues in Philadelphia on the 4th and New York City on the 5th.

Tickets for the five confirmed Shut The Folk Up & Listen shows with Keller Williams and Steve Poltz go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. ET except for City Winery NYC which go up at 3 p.m. ET.
