What do you call it when a Nashville-based bluegrass musician links up with a prolific Australian psych-rock outfit at a festival in Sweden? We’re not sure either, but the photos and videos of Billy Strings kicking it with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard at Gothenburg, Sweden’s Way Out West festival are easily the best thing we’ve seen all day.

Following a trio of German shows in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Hamburg earlier this week, Billy Strings and his crew rolled into Gothenburg early Thursday morning for a day off ahead of their set at Way Out West on Friday, August 11th. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard were among the acts on the three-day event’s lineup for Thursday afternoon, so Billy and company headed out to the festival to catch their set.

Strings watched the Gizz performance from the crowd before linking up with the Australian band backstage. Later, team Billy Strings and team King Gizzard headed back out to the general admission concert field to watch Devo‘s set together.
