Philly trance-fusion quartet Solar Circuit has released a new EP, Controlled Chaos, featuring four studio-crafted tracks each showcasing a different aspect of the group’s versatile sound.
Mixed by the band’s keyboardist/vocalist Becca LeVan and mastered by Jesse Miller of Lotus, the EP expands on Solar Circuit’s singular fusion of live jam-rock and electronic dance music with hypnotic grooves, emotive textures, layered instrumentation, dramatic drops, and enchanting vocals.
“We were simultaneously out on our national tour while we were fine-tuning the mixing and details of Controlled Chaos,” LeVan explained to Live For Live Music. “After hours of spitballing name ideas in the van literally across the country, we finally gave up for a bit and left it to fate to just come to us. While we were out in Colorado, I legit had three shows in a row where a new fan came over to chat and described our sound and their experience at the show as ‘controlled chaos.’ I loved it even from the first person, but then by person #3… I mean, come on, it had to be it!”
LeVan continued, “It does make a lot of sense, anyway; we find ourselves living on that edge of being aware and synchronized while being fully along for an unpredictable and at times chaotic ride. Twists and turns to get from A to B. Ultimately, we all feel really proud with how the final work came out and feel it truly solidifies our sound and uninhibitedness. … Each track does truly hit a unique aspect of the Solar Circuit sound.”
