Did Neil Young overestimate the power of his electric car? Recently, while driving his one-of-a-kind LincVolt (a 1959 Lincoln Continental convertible that’s been retrofitted into an archetypal electric car), on his way to Canada for a Greening festival, Young’s car broke down and had to be pulled off to the side of the road in the middle of the desert.

Fortunately, for Young, California Highway Patrol discovered him with his broken down vehicle, along Interstate 80 near Donner Summit, repaired his car and sent him on his way. He thanked them with autographs and photographs.

Moral of this story? No matter how green, or famous you are, you too can have your car break down in the middle of the desert. When that happens, make sure your phone is charged and pray for service.
