It’s not too often that you see a supergroup in the world of trance music, but New World Punx is clearly on the forefront of the genre, bringing together Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz, who, on their own are legendary producers and DJs. Together, however, these two have started producing top notch bangers and taking the stage together for legendary performances.

After performing several back to back sets together, Corsten and Schulz started to get offers to perform together around the world, and thus, a new project was born. New World Punx. Their first official tracks, ‘Loops and Tings’ and ‘Romper’, were both widely played and well received, and the duo instantly received prominence with a debut set at Armin Van Buuren’s massive A State of Trance show at Madison Square Garden.

Now with more original productions and VIPs, Corsten and Schulz returned to New York City for a hell of a show. Shows like this will really make New York City miss Roseland Ballroom – it’s a big enough room where there’s always a decent view of the top notch productions and visuals, combined with a booming sound system.

Throughout the night, the duo weaved in and out of classics from their solo repertoire, as well as their more recent material as New World Punx. Corsten and Schulz are both regarded as some of the best DJs in the world, and you can feel it throughout their set, piecing together songs and building tension and momentum before dropping into their catchy hooks.

As a live act, New World Punx are one of the best things going in the trance scene today. Corsten’s productions are classics at this point, and Schulz is legendary for his epic marathon sets – so when you get them together, its really an all star situation. Now all we need is a proper full length album.
