NHL teams from around the league will celebrate the Grateful Dead with several theme nights throughout the 2024–2025 season. Deadhead hockey fans across the country will have the chance to support their team and band with jersey giveaways, pre- and post-game concerts, and more.

This season’s NHL Grateful Dead nights include games by the San Jose Sharks (10/31), Detroit Red Wings (11/2), Colorado Avalanche (11/13), Pittsburgh Penguins (11/16), Columbus Blue Jackets (3/13), and Carolina Hurricanes (3/25). San Jose Sharks fans who show up early to the team’s Halloween game against the Chicago Blackhawks can check out a pre-game concert by Redwood City tribute band Aardvark and pick up a limited edition jersey. In Detroit, Red Wings fans can catch a pre-game concert by Raising the Dead and grab a special jersey, while Colorado Avalanche enthusiasts can get a Grateful Dead crewneck.

The San Jose Sharks will take part in another Grateful Dead night when they travel to Pittsburgh to play the Penguins, with the first 500 Deadheads to purchase tickets receiving a Penguins-branded Grateful Dead hockey jersey. Flipping the calendar to 2025, the Columbus Blue Jackets will host their annual Grateful Dead takeover with an exclusive jersey giveaway. The game traditionally features intermission and post-game concerts by an area Grateful Dead cover band, though one has not yet been announced. The Carolina Hurricanes will host the season’s final Dead tribute night, though the team has yet to reveal any specifics on the game against the Nashville Predators.
