Rock duo The Black Keys have certainly made it to the musical big leagues. But, that’s not to say they haven’t forgotten about the little people—namely their hometown little league team.
Now available on the band’s website are t-shirts—designed by Michael Carney, brother of Patrick Carney who is also the band’s creative director—with all proceeds benefitting the West Akron Baseball League (WABL).
“Dan (Auerbach) and I played little league when we were kids before we got into music; it was a really positive hobby that kept us from sitting around watching TV,” Patrick Carney told MTV. “We are proud to be sponsoring WABL to hopefully offset some of the league’s expenses and get more kids outside having fun.”
According to MTV, proceeds from the apparel will go to help the league replace benches, buy uniforms, upgrade equipment and more.
This isn’t the first time Carney and his counterpart Dan Auerbach have gone to bat for their hometown. Last year, the band donated $300 to sponsor a West Akron Baseball League team.
