[Update 12/20/24]: Following an initial announcement for Becoming Led Zeppelin earlier this month, Sony Pictures Classic has shared a full-length trailer for the long-awaited documentary set to hit theaters in February 2025.
The first-ever officially sanctioned documentary about rock legends Led Zeppelin has been in the works for several years, and now it is finally set to premiere in over 200 theaters exclusively in IMAX on February 7th, following a special one-night-only early access screening in 18 cities on February 5th.
Directed by Bernard McMahon and produced by writer-producer Allison McGourty, the new film offers a comprehensive look at Zeppelin’s formation and meteoric rise to rock stardom with never-before-seen live concert footage from the band’s early days, home movies and other archival materials, new interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, an unearthed conversation with the late John Bonham, and much more.
“We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic scouring attics and basements in pursuit of rare and unseen film footage, photographs and music recordings,” said Allison McGourty. “Then we transferred each piece of media with custom techniques, so that in IMAX, these 55-year-old clips and music would look and sound like they came out of the lab yesterday.”
The hybrid docu-concert film promises to give fans new perspective on this iconic group, while telling the story in the band’s own words.
