On May 13th, Epic Records will release a posthumous Michael Jackson album, containing eight previously-unreleased recordings by the late pop star. The project will be titled XSCAPE, with big-name producers like Timbaland, Stargate, John McClain, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon, and Rodney Jerkins. Of the group, Jerkins is the only one who worked with Jackson.
The recordings were taken from the sessions that ultimately resulted in Invincible, Jackson’s 2001 release.
A press release associated with XSCAPE cited the work as a “fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson’s essence and integrity.” In addition, a deluxe edition of the album will include the original recordings, so fans of MJ can diretly compare the original and remixed versions.
