D’Angelico Guitars has unveiled a new collection of electric and acoustic guitars inspired by the Grateful Dead to celebrate the band’s 60th anniversary.

The New York-based guitar maker first linked up with Dead & Company in 2015 to create hand-painted guitars for a charity initiative and has since worked with Bob Weir to develop a signature line of guitars honoring his legacy as a trailblazing rhythm guitarist. Now the partnership has yielded a trio of instruments paying homage to the Dead’s distinctive style and timeless iconography, with each model in the collection bearing the group’s signature red, white, and blue 13-point lightning bolt motif.

At the center of the lineup is the Premier Grateful Dead DC ($999.99), a semi-hollow double-cutaway that references D’Angelico’s first collaboration with the band from 2017. Featuring a laminated maple body, C-shaped neck, and a pair of D’Angelico humbucker pickups, the DC is a gig-ready guitar, while touches like gold hardware and a custom Steal Your Face inlay on the headstock make it a true collector’s piece.

Joining the DC is the Premier Grateful Dead SS ($999.99), a single-cut semi-hollow offering a vintage jazz-inspired silhouette with rich tonal character. Its flame maple body, nickel-covered pickups, and elegant pearloid inlays add to its elevated design, enhanced once again by signature Dead visuals and gold appointments.

For acoustic players, the Premier Grateful Dead Tammany ($549.99) offers an approachable orchestra model with a solid spruce top and layered sapele back and sides. Optimized for comfort with a shallower body depth and onboard Fishman electronics, the Tammany offers a warm, expressive tone suited to everything from fingerpicking to singalongs around the campfire.

To mark the occasion and tie the launch to a cause close to the Dead’s heart, D’Angelico will also produce a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted version of each model. These special guitars will be showcased at Dead & Company’s upcoming San Francisco concerts in Golden Gate Park before heading to auction, with proceeds benefiting HeadCount, a nonprofit focused on voter engagement and civic participation.
