After more than 20 years and 1,500 shows, Asheville, NC’s Town Mountain have announced they will step away from touring following their upcoming fall run.
The news came Tuesday morning via the band’s social media, where they reflected on their journey and expressed deep gratitude to the fans who have been part of their story.
“This was not an easy decision,” the group wrote, “but it is one we made together with a lot of respect, reflection, and love for what we’ve built.”

Town Mountain will end their touring days on October 26th at the Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, PA. Between now and then, the band will play nearly 20 additional shows throughout the Eastern United States, including festival sets and headlining performances in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Virginia, and Maryland. Town Mountain is encouraging as many fans as possible to join them for this final chapter, promising the same fire and energy that has defined their shows since the beginning.
For over two decades, Town Mountain has stood at the crossroads of tradition and innovation in American roots music, blending the drive of bluegrass with alt-country and honky-tonk. From their early days in Asheville to festival stages nationwide, they’ve built their reputation on pairing raw energy with heartfelt storytelling and a deep reverence for their Appalachian heritage. Over the years, they’ve honored the legacies of first- and second-generation bluegrass pioneers while expanding their sound into Americana, country, and folk, delivering acclaimed albums like Southern Crescent and Lines in the Levee.
“Who knows what the future holds, but thank you for being part of the ride,” the band concluded. “We are forever grateful.”
While the future beyond this fall remains uncertain, Town Mountain has firmly cemented its legacy in modern alt-country. Fans have one last chance to experience the band’s signature mix of tight harmonies, high-octane picking, and unshakable camaraderie before the curtain closes on this chapter.
