Alpenphunk, Colorado’s intimate winter micro-festival, will return January 29th–31st, 2026, for a weekend of shows across Crested Butte. This year’s program is built around singer, songwriter, guitarist, bandleader, and producer Eric Krasno and a trio of his myriad projects, including Soulive, Krasno Moore Project, and Eric Krasno & Friends, plus an all-star tribute to the Jerry Garcia Band and the Grateful Dead [get tickets].
The festival will begin Thursday, January 29th, at the Public House for an evening with Krasno Moore Project, the organ trio featuring Kraz alongside Galactic drummer Stanton Moore and keyboardist Eric Finland. On Friday, Alpenphunk will stage a doubleheader with a rare performance from Krasno’s storied Soulive trio with keyboardist Neal Evans and drummer Alan Evans at the Center for the Arts at 8 p.m., followed by an 11 p.m. late-night Eric Krasno & Friends superjam at the Public House.
Friday’s Kraz & Friends lineup will see the titular ringleader play alongside bassist Grahame Lesh, guitarist Ross James, trombonist/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick, vocalist Nicki Bluhm, Finland, and Moore, a lineup that bears some resemblance to the roster for A Dream We Dreamed: A New Orleans Tribute To Phil Lesh during this year’s Jazz Fest. Finally, Krasno will close out the weekend on Saturday night at the Center for the Arts with that same lineup of friends for a celebration of the Jerry Garcia Band and the Grateful Dead.
“Alpenphunk is built for deep listening and real connection—small rooms, world-class players, and a town that lives for winter,” festival founder Wade Koeman said. “This year’s program with Eric at the center leans into collaboration and improvisation—the kind of sets that only happen in Crested Butte.”
Since its 2022 debut, Alpenphunk has become one of Colorado’s most distinctive winter gatherings, blending world-class music with Crested Butte’s mountain culture. The boutique festival pairs skiing by day with intimate, high-energy shows by night, offering fans rare access to artists and unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime collaborations.
The public on-sale for Alpenphunk 2026 will begin Friday, October 10, at 10 a.m. MST. Click here for event details and updates.
