moe. continued its 35th anniversary tour with a jam-packed Halloween weekend highlighted by a quest to “Jamalot” to find the Holy Grail with help from The Infamous Stringdusters.
The weekend kicked off on Wednesday with a visit to the Georgia Theatre in Athens, where moe. treated fans to a career-spanning setlist. The first set featured classics like “Happy Hour Hero” and “Okayalright” interspersed with material off the band’s latest release, Circle of Giants, including “In Stride” and “Bat Country”. Set two began with a pairing of “Blue Jeans Pizza” and the geographically relevant “ATL”, followed by a jam sandwich couched within Pink Floyd‘s “Breathe”, with “Timmy Tucker” and “Bullet” providing the musical meat and cheese. The set culminated with a triumphant “Seat of my Pants”, and “Letter Home” sent the Southern crowd off on a twangy note.

moe. resurfaced the following night in Live Oak, FL to get in the Halloween spirit with two sets at Suwannee Hulaween. Again, the band combined fan favorites like “Captain America” and “Recreational Chemistry” with fresh tracks including the Nate Wilson-penned “Yellow Tigers”, but it was a pair of seamless sandwiches that best highlighted moe.’s ingenuity, with “Four” > “Buster” > “Four” finishing off the first set and “Moth” > “Godzilla” > “Moth” opening up the second.

The weekend’s festivities culminated on Friday with a Monty Python and the Holy Grail-themed Halloween show at New Orleans’ historic Joy Theater with The Infamous Stringdusters, who treated fans to new songs from their upcoming album, 20/20. moe. played up the Jamalot theme throughout the show, building the set around the film’s narrative and donning costumes of specific characters, with percussionist Jim Loughlin as Tim the Enchanter, bassist Rob Derhak as King Arthur, guitarist Chuck Garvey as Sir Lancelot the Brave, guitarist Al Schnier as Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, drummer Vinnie Amico as Sir Galahad the Pure, and keyboardist/flautist Nate Wilson as Sir Bedevere the Wise. They also welcomed The Infamous Stringdusters, who portrayed the chanting monks, butchered the Black Knight (“It’s just a flesh wound!”), and squeezed in some other festive Halloween covers, including Eagles‘ “Witchy Woman” and Jefferson Airplane‘s “White Rabbit”.
