After debuting three songs across the first three nights in Mexico, Phish broke the pattern on Saturday, closing the four-night Riviera Maya run with an evening of mostly classic material and deep jams, including the longest-ever versions of  “My Friend, My Friend”, “A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing”, and “Beneath a Sea of Stars Part 1”.

The first set began with a three-part “Mike’s Groove” suite, with “Halley’s Comet” filling the gap between “Mike’s Song” and “Weekapaug Groove” for the first time ever. The latter also included a tease of the Sanford & Son theme song from Trey Anastasio—a nod to Grady Demond Wilson, known for his role as the titular character Lamont Sanford on the beloved ’70s sitcom, who passed away on Friday.

Upbeat blues shuffle “Julius” brought the dance party on the beach to a rolling boil, before the fearless foursome plunged head first into the most expansive “My Friend, My Friend” on record. Clocking in at 25 minutes, the jam probed murky and mysterious depths and then rose to the sun-splashed surface with a major key change.

After starting with a string of classic songs, Phish busted into some newer material with Mike Gordon-penned psychedelic rocker “Mull”. “Vultures” and “Also Sprach Zarathustra”, a.k.a. “2001”—both not so new—rounded out the set ahead of “Drift While You’re Sleeping”, a song from Trey’s short-lived side project Ghosts of the Forest, which closed the set.

Saturday’s second set, the final frame of the Riviera Maya run, made the trip worth it, starting with two record-setting jams. A 40-minute version of “A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing” evoked thalassophobia (the fear of open waters) with its vastness, followed by a nearly 20-minute “Beneath a Sea of Stars Part 1”, another song fit for the picturesque setting.

Phish finished the set on a lighter note with a trio of major-key bops, with the goofiest, “Meatstick”, leading into a cover of TV on the Radio‘s “Golden Age”, and finally “Slave to the Traffic Light”.

For the encore, the final cover of the night, the Rolling Stones‘ “Loving Cup”, paired nicely with fan favorite “Harry Hood”, which recalled the band’s milk-themed New Year’s Eve spectacle.

With that, Phish’s 2026 Riviera Maya came to a close. All four nights are available to stream on demand via both Live Phish and nugs.

The band will reconvene in April for a three-weekend Sphere residency in Las Vegas. The run is already sold out, but tickets remain available on VividSeats, StubHub, and CashorTrade.
