A good love story is that much better when it involves music. Last Saturday, at 1:45 PM in the Gospel Tent at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Alden Settoon married the love of his life, Brittany Rampick. It was two years to the day after they first hit it off at a New Mastersounds late night at the House of Blues.

Alden and Brittany had actually known each other for years — Brittany was Alden’s younger sister’s best friend and he attended parties at her house growing up. In 2013, they serendipitously ran into each other at a New Mastersounds Jazz Fest late night at the House of Blues, then spent the rest of the weekend together. They parted ways and she went back to Denver. The very next day, he booked a flight to go see her, and the rest is history!

Their original intention was to get married in a more traditional setting back in October, but after encountering some problems they had to go back to the drawing board and figure out a more financially sound option. Alden had jokingly suggested the Gospel Tent when they first got engaged back in July. He brought up the idea again and Brittany was down! Alden’s mom is a local New Orleans meteorologist who is friends with Jazz Fest owner Quint Davis and was able to pull a few strings to make it happen.

At 1:45 PM on May 2nd, 2015, Alden and Brittany were married, backed by Pastor Jai Reed and the Archdiosese of New Orleans Gospel Choir. His Best Man’s older brother, Trooper Bruce, became an online ordained minister to officiate the ceremony, since their original priest wasn’t down with the unconventional service. Afterwards, they all went and celebrated at a block party down the street with the Mike Doussan Band playing, who is actually Alden’s deceased friend’s brother.
