Andre 3000, known for his work in Outkast, is tackling a new media: Television.

Andre will star in the upcoming series of the popular ABC series, American Crime. This is by no means his first acting role, as Andre most recently portrayed Jimi Hendrix in the biopic Jimi: All Is by My Side. In fact, the creator of American Crime is John Ridley, who was the director for the Jimi biopic.

Andre 3000 will portray Michael Lacroix, a respected architect in the Midwest whose son gets involved in a scandal at a private school. Cast members Timothy Hutton, Felicity Huffman, Regina King and Lili Taylor will all be returning to the show, cast in different roles, as the plot of American Crime changes from season to season.

“Personally, I couldn’t be more excited than to work again with Andre”, said Ridley. “He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All is by my Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime. Folks at ABC were absolutely moved by Andre’s performance in the film, and by the overall language of cinema we used in telling the story. It’s fair to say American Crime might not exist were it not for our previous collaboration.”
