Bobby Weir, quite possibly the hardest working man in the game, is currently working on an album of “cowboy songs” with several guest artists, including Further drummer Joe Russo, Josh RitterYellowbirds’ Josh Kaufman, The National bassist Scott Devendorf, and The Walkmen‘s Walter Martin.

Literally just getting off the road with Dead & Company and he’s already back in the studio, according to this picture posted yesterday. Lyricist John Perry Barlow posted the caption “Three Wise Men came together to write a cowboy song today. We, Lucas Autry Nelson, Bobby Weir & I, got a start.”

This should be a good one, seeing as Barlow has collaborated with Weir and the Grateful Dead since 1971. Having penned songs like “Cassidy,” “Estimated Prophet,” “Mexicali Blues,” “The Music Never Stopped” among many others, we have high hopes for another great classic.
