Earlier this year, the Boston Red Sox paid tribute to the Grateful Dead with a Dead-themed evening at Fenway Park on September 21st; they were one of three professional teams to honor the band’s 50th anniversary. The night was such a success that they have announced another Red Sox Grateful Dead Night to take place April 28, 2016, with the Atlanta Braves as their opponents.
With the price of a ticket, purchasers will also receive a Grateful Dead/Boston Red Sox t-shirt. Last year’s shirt is pictured below. Additionally, there will be a pre-game concert to celebrate the music of the Grateful Dead on Yawkey Way. Massachusetts-based Grateful Dead tribute band Fennario played the pre-game concert at last year’s event. We expect this year to be just as awesome!
Proceeds will go to benefit the Rex Foundation, a charity organization with a longtime affiliation to the Grateful Dead, and there will be a VIP pregame party to benefit the organization at the House Of Blues. Tickets and more information can be found via the team’s website.
