Acclaimed saxophonist/producer GRiZ has spent the last twelve days celebrating GRiZMAS in his hometown of Detroit, MI, spearheading charitable initiatives in time for the holiday season. By organizing volunteer efforts and fundraisers, GRiZ was able to raise upwards of $30,000 for Little Kids Rock, a group that provides free music education for underprivileged children.

The twelve day run also saw GRiZ volunteering at locations within the community. For his efforts, the musician was given a “Spirit of Detroit” award – one of the city’s highest honors. Brenda Jones, president of the Detroit City Council, said, “GRiZ is a staple, not only in the electronic music circuit, but a staple in the City of Detroit… Your music is for all of us, it’s meant to be experienced, danced to and sung-a-long to.”

You can check out the results of this charity drive in the short recap video below:

The 12 nights of GRiZMAS initiative ended with a performance at the city’s legendary Masonic Temple, alongside FKJ, Big Wild, and Will Sessions. However, if you still would like to donate, GRiZ’s website is still accepting donations through January 1st. More information can be found here.
