After five long years, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have returned with their funky new album, The Getaway. Produced by Danger MouseThe Getaway is something of a departure for the Peppers, but still maintains their integral funk roots on each and every track.

The band took a new approach for The Getaway, creating music in the studio instead of coming in with pre-written songs. The result is a more cohesive listening experience, though at times the album has more pop-driven sensibilities than RHCP may expect. Still, with Anthony Kiedis’ powerful vocals and Flea’s ripping basslines, there’s no doubting who made this great new release.
