Just last week, Widespread Panic hit the Starlight Amphitheatre in Kansas City, MO. Surrounding that performance, however, two of the band’s longest tenured members – John Bell and Sunny Ortiz – stopped by local radio station KCPT 90.9 The Bridge for a unique studio session. The Bridge is one of the largest listener-supported public radio stations in the KC area, and their “909 In Studio” program regularly brings great musicians to the people. The WSP duo certainly made their appearance a memorable one!

Together, Bell and Ortiz played a three song set that included “Blue Indian,” “Old Joe,” and “Radio Child.” With the two musicians playing acoustically, the stripped-down arrangements on these songs really give them a new life. Watch the three videos posted by “909 In Studio” below.

You can also listen in on the full interview with Bell and Ortiz, where they speak about hippie days at baseball stadiums, the process of recording and their musical influences. That audio can be found here.
