Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom will turn into a bumpin’ abyss of electronic waves and bass on Saturday, January 18th for a blowout featuring Maddy O’Neal, The New Deal, Nobide, RECESS, Pure Colors, and Ben Silver (Orchard Lounge) taking place on both sides of the beloved Denver, CO venue.

On any given night, Cervantes’ normally hosts two separately-ticketed events—one in the main Ballroom space and one in the smaller Other Side room. On this mid-January evening, however, both sides will be opened up to create a single, two-stage event featuring a wide array of electronic music and bass to warm any fans’ dancing feet.

Denver-bred electronic queen Maddy O’Neal will serve as the Ballroom’s headliner for the evening. Having just released a new EP, The Rush, O’Neal is pushing through the electronic music scene full-force with a versatile sound incorporating her jazzy hip-hop roots, melodic overtones, rhythmic basslines. O’Neal will return from Jam Cruise ready to throw down in her home city for her first non-floating show of 2020.

Joining Maddy in the Ballroom will be Boulder-native trio, Nobide, making their first live appearance of the new decade. The trio has been out touring throughout the past several months, playing sets at large-scale festivals Summer Camp Music Festival, Sonic Bloom, Camp Bisco, and Resonance Music & Arts Festival and a headlining fall tour featuring performances in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Texas. They’ll be ready to bring the energy back to Denver when they return to Colorado to play for their home team fans.

The Ballroom’s lineup will be rounded out by Denver-based electronic duo, RECESS, and “chromafunk” producer Pure Colors. RECESS, comprised of Drew Birch and Ian Gilley, will bring their blend of old-school hip-hop, smooth guitar, and spacey synths to the Ballroom stage, while Pure Colors will “make things better” with a mellow, disco-funk set featuring songs from his three EPs and beyond.

Lighting up the Other Side for the night will be veteran Toronto-based trio, The New Deal. The trio’s new drummer, Davide Di Renzo, recently joined keyboardist Jamie Shields and bassist Dan Kurtz to bring the group back to a clearer direction of organic-infused improvisation centering around electro house, trance, and drum and bass. After playing at STS9’s Wave Spell, NightOwl Toronto, The Woodlands Music & Arts Festival, and more during the summer, The New Deal’s performance at Cervantes’ Other Side on with Ben Silver of Orchard Lounge January 18th will mark the final night of a five-night CO run to kick off the new year. The New Deal and Ben Silver will also perform at Cervantes’ Other Side the night prior on January 17th.
