Asheville-based brass band Empire Strikes Brass is set to release their debut album, Theme For A Celebration next Friday, February 3rd, and continue to turn heads with an energetic sound. The album is a celebration of all musical styles and influences, packed together with an enthusiastic brass band jive.

Theme For A Celebration was recorded at the renowned Echo Mountain Studios, as the eleven piece band collaborated together to write and arrange the new creation. The full band energy coalesces into all sorts of influences, including funk, rock, R&B, hip hop and so much more. You can hear all of these sounds merging together on “We Tried,” the newest single taken from the band’s upcoming release.

We’re excited to share this groovy new track from Empire Strikes Brass’s new album! Listen to “We Tried,” streaming below.

Says keyboardist/vocalist Lenny Pettinelli, “For this tune, we really went after a vintage soul sound. We took this approach with every aspect from phrasing and arranging to production and mixing. We really love the groove and feel of this tune and it’s definitely one of our favorites. The original idea was conceived on ukulele by Lenny P. and before it even developed into a full band arrangement, he had a New York Soul sound in mind inspired by one of his favorite bands, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.”
