At the core of Analog Son’s many wild creations lies funk mavens Jordan Linit and Josh Fairman, two pioneers of the futuristic funk sound. Hailing from Denver, CO, the Analog Son duo has had great success recruiting top-notch musicians for their countless collaborations. It’s no secret; the two just know how to produce some excellent music.

The duo’s latest creation features a who’s who of performers, including The Shady Horns, aka Ryan Zoidis and Eric “Benny” Bloom of Lettuce, as well as Joe Tatton of the New Mastersounds, Terrence Houston of George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners, and Jason Hann of The String Cheese Incident on percussion. Titled “Black Diamond,” the new release is something of a grooving musical explosion. We’re certainly excited to premiere it.

Tune in below:

We asked Fairman to tell us a bit about how all of these pieces came together. “Jordan and I went down to the New Orleans Jazz Festival and started recording this track at The Parlor Studio with George Porter Jr.’s drummer, Terrence Houston, and Joe Tatton of the New Mastersounds. The Shady Horns of Lettuce were also in town for the festival, and so we had them lay down horns at Esplande Studio in NOLA.”

Once the New Orleans trip was done, the duo wrapped up the funk in Colorado. “We have been collaborating at live shows with Jason Hann (EOTO/SCI) so it was a no brainer to have him record the percussion at our studio, Scanhope Sound, in Morrison, CO, especially since he was in town for String Cheese rehearsals. We got together last week and finished up the track!” He adds, “Collaborating with these guys is always a blast,  we had fun with this one.”

It sure seems like a fun one indeed. Be sure to catch Analog Son live in Colorado, when they perform on February 26th and 27th at the Fox Theatre in Boulder and Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox in Denver, respectively. With Hann performing and The Pamlico Sound opening each show, these two throwdowns are sure to whet the appetite of any funkophile. Tickets for the Boulder show on the 26th and for the Denver show on the 27th can be found by clicking the links.
