Two weeks ago, the third annual Brooklyn Comes Alive took over three Williamsburg venues (Brooklyn Bowl, Music Hall of Williamsburg, and Schimanski) for two unforgettable days of music bringing with it a stacked lineup featuring once-in-a-lifetime collaborations, tribute sets, and all-star supergroups. The festival brought together over one hundred artists to see their passion projects come to life, honor their musical heroes, and improvise with their friends and peers, with more than thirty-five sets taking place across the festival’s two full days of music. For one of the event’s final sets, Ryan Stasik and Kris Myers from Umphrey’s McGee and Mike Gantzer from Aqueous hosted a festival-closing and highly anticipated tribute to the seminal Green Day album, Dookie, late-night on Sunday, 9/24.

Relive The Magic Of Brooklyn Comes Alive 2017 With This Set-By-Set Breakdown

The three beloved musicians rocked Music Hall of Williamsburg to the core with their excitedly-received set, which saw the trio perform the entirety of the breakthrough Green Day album in addition to laying out energized covers of other greats from the time, including Nirvana, Ween, Weezer and The Ramones. Though both Umphrey’s and Aqueous are known for longer, exploratory pieces, bassist Ryan Stasik said it best during the set when he quipped, “Damn, it feels good playing three-minute songs!”

Though the all-star Dookie set was among the final jams of the weekend, judging by the wild energy of the thrashing crowd, there was plenty of energy left to close down Brooklyn Comes Alive with a bang.
